Posco Construction announced on the 1st that it was selected as the final contractor at the 'Suwon Yeongtong Byeokjeokgol Jugong 8th Complex Remodeling Project' contractor selection meeting held on July 30. The Byeokjeokgol Jugong 8th Complex, built in 1997, has now been in operation for 25 years.
Posco Construction plans to remodel the 18 buildings, which currently consist of 1,548 units, by horizontally and vertically expanding them to 1,656 units.
The number of units to be sold is 108, and the total construction cost is approximately 524.9 billion won.
This year, Posco Construction has secured remodeling contracts worth a total of 1.08 trillion won, and 1.3173 trillion won in reconstruction and redevelopment projects. The total cumulative order amount for urban regeneration projects has reached 2.4063 trillion won.
Posco Construction also secured the contract for the remodeling of the Anyang Pyeongchon Hangaram Shilla Apartments at a selection meeting held the week before. This complex, completed in 1992, is now 30 years old, and plans to expand from 1,068 units in 9 buildings to 1,197 units in 9 buildings. The construction cost is about 325.6 billion won.
Including the 238.5 billion won contract for the remodeling of the Seongbok Station River Park Apartments secured in March, Posco Construction is currently the leader in the remodeling industry, having secured 26 projects in total.
In the second half of the year, Posco Construction is also expected to secure more projects. They have been selected as the preferred contractor for various projects, including the Goyang Muncheon Village 16 Complex (1,099 units), Seoul Gangdong-gu Myeongil Central Heights (410 units), Songpa Jamsil Hyundai (386 units), and Changwon Seongwon Towol Grand Town (7,189 units).
Posco Construction completed its first project under the newly revised remodeling law with the opening of Gaepo Wuseong 9th Apartments (Gaepo The Sharp Trie) in November last year. They are currently working on the Songpa Seongji Apartments, the first vertical extension permit project in the country, and the Hyundai 1st Apartments in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu. Other projects such as Bundang Hansol 5th and Mujigae 4th complexes are also nearing construction.
Since establishing a dedicated remodeling division in 2014, Posco Construction has been actively pursuing remodeling business contracts, even setting up a first-phase new town project team this year.
A Posco Construction official said, "Remodeling requires advanced technology and experience in design, permitting, and construction, unlike new builds or reconstruction. Posco Construction is highly regarded in many projects due to its experience, the solid financial structure of the Posco Group, and trust in its brand."
